Essential Responsibilities
- Safe, timely transportation of clients to and from the facility.
- Safe, timely transportation to and from a scheduled field trip outing for residents.
- Planner of routes for field trip destinations.
- Maintenance of bus systems prior to all field trip excursions.
- Professional and courteous conduct with all customers - residents, family members, visitors, physicians, co-workers, etc.
- Assistance with practical orientation/training of employees as assigned according to facility policy and procedure.
- Positive and supportive attitude when assisting new employees.
- Maintain CPR/First Aid certifications.
- Compliance with DOT alcohol and controlled substances policy including pre-employment and random drug testing producing negative results.
- Adherence to Minnesota traffic laws and practice of safe and defensive driving techniques at all times.
- Compliance with facility rules and regulations.
Qualifications
- Excellent driving record.
- Current commercial drivers license (CDL)-Class B.
- Compliance with DOT requirements including drug testing.
- Experience working with seniors.
- CPR/First Aid certified or willing to complete.
Physical Requirements
- Bend, squat to ground to pick up debris, adjust wheelchairs, walkers, etc.
- Discriminate colors to read traffic lights and traffic signs.
- Visual acuity of at least 20/40 in each eye, with or without corrective lenses.
- Ability to frequently move, push, pull and/or lift objects weighing 10 – 25 pounds.
- Use hands, arms and legs for pushing wheelchairs, safe assisted transfers of participants and simple grasping.
- Perform tasks requiring actions of muscles or groups of muscles to walk, stoop, bend, lift and to carry objects.
- Walk and/or stand and sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Speak clearly and make self understood in face-to-face interactions.
- See objects closely to read directions, instructions, perform documentation, identify traffic lights, signals, signs etc.
- Hear normal sounds and voices with some background noise to receive verbal instructions, answer telephones, communicate with others, etc.
Environment
- Works Indoors and Outdoors all four seasons.
Working Hours
- Typical Monday through Friday with some evenings and weekends required.
- Work hours vary based on programs planned and adult day center participant transportation needs.
