Bus Driver (Part-time)
About the role
The role involves driving with flexibility to transport employees and customers within the Altorfer territory, which includes parts of Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, and Indiana. Drivers are expected to be available for weekday and some weekend trips.
Responsibilities
- Drive vehicles according to time schedules, adhering to traffic regulations.
- Research and plan for traffic, construction, and weather delays.
- Report delays or accidents to the appropriate authorities.
- Collect tickets or cash fares from passengers, ensuring they have proper identification.
- Assist passengers, especially those requiring assistance, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Load and unload baggage in baggage compartments as needed.
- Ensure all passengers are accounted for before departure and park the vehicle appropriately.
- Keep mileage and repair records updated, record financial transactions, and maintain manifest.
- Inspect and maintain the vehicle's condition, including refueling and adding necessary fluids.
- Make minor repairs to the vehicle, such as adding air to tires and changing light bulbs.
- Maintain cleanliness of the bus or motor coach, including sanitizing passenger areas and servicing onboard restrooms.
- Manage beverage and snack inventory before each trip, recording and reporting inventory changes.
- Perform post-trip vehicle responsibilities, including cleaning the bus and sanitizing passenger areas.
Requirements
- A valid Class B CDL with passenger and air brake endorsements, or the ability to obtain one.
- No more than two (2) minor violations in the past three (3) years.
- No major violations in the past five (5) years.
- A free driving record with no major at-fault accidents.
- A current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
- Knowledge of U.S. Department of Transportation (US DOT) regulations and FMCSA requirements.
- Ability to perform basic math involving money, weight, volume, distance, and time.
- Basic computer knowledge and experience.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Ability to speak additional languages is helpful but not required.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 100 lbs, sitting for long periods, standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and using a keyboard.
- Wear approved safety equipment when necessary.

Pay
Competitive compensation package based on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
On-the-road majority of the time, with approximately 95% travel and 5% office time. Varying schedules and hours may be required.
