Bus Driver (Part Time)

About the Role

The Summit Area YMCA is looking for a dependable, safety-minded, and kid-friendly School Bus Driver to transport children in our child care and camp programs between schools, YMCA locations, and activity sites. This role plays an essential part in creating a safe, welcoming, and fun experience for our youth participants. If you’re interested in more hours, this role may be upgraded to Full-Time by working in another department during non-driving hours—perfect for those with skills in childcare, membership services, aquatics, maintenance, or other YMCA departments.

Responsibilities

• Transport children safely between schools, YMCA locations, and activity sites
• Create a welcoming and fun experience for youth participants
• Communicate effectively with children and adults from diverse backgrounds
• Maintain a commitment to safety at all times

Requirements

• A current NJ Commercial Driver’s License with School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements (or willingness and ability to obtain them)
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Ability to relate well to children and adults
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Prior experience driving a school bus
• Friendly, approachable personality

Pay

The salary range for this role is $25–$35 per hour, based on experience.

Schedule

This Part-Time Bus Driver position is scheduled to work up to 25 hours per week. Current hours are Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–9:00 AM, 11:00 AM–12:00 PM, and 2:00 PM–4:00 PM. There is an opportunity to work additional hours each week in another department, making this a full-time role with benefits.
