General Overview of Position
Kenosha Transit is seeking bus drivers to work a part-time schedule driving middle and high school students on City shuttle buses during the public school year. Work is performed Monday through Friday. No work is scheduled during weekends, during the summer public school break, established school holidays or when students do not report (teacher workdays).
- Drivers can select from three schedule options:
- Split Shift - Two hours in the morning from 6:30am-8:30am and two hours in the afternoon from 2:30pm-4:30pm (approximately 20 hours per week).
- Mornings Only - Two hours in the morning from 6:30am-8:30am (approximately 10 hours per week).
- Afternoons Only - Two hours in the afternoon from 2:30pm-4:30pm (approximately 10 hours per week).
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma, GED or HSED.
- Valid, regular, "Class D" driver's license.
- You need a valid Class B commercial driver license (CDL) - or an instructional permit (CDLI).
- Pasenger ("P") endorsement - or a temporary permit.
- Air brake endorsement - or a temporary permit.
- The City does not pay for you to obtain a CDLI or CDL.
- If you permanently reside in another state and have a CDL from that state, you must possess interstate exemption status.
- If you are a new Wisconsin resident and hold a valid CDL from another state, you must provide proof of license transfer upon hire.
- If you have a military license issued by a military facility that allowed you to operate a military commercial vehicle, you may be able to use this license to obtain a Wisconsin CDL.
- WE PROVIDE PAID, ON-THE-JOB TRAINING WITH CERTIFIED DOT INSTRUCTORS to an applicant who has a CDL instructional permit (CDLI) with temporary "P" and air brake endorsements.
- You will be disqualified from the application process if you do not have the CDL or permit (with the required endorsements or temporary permits) or are unable to obtain such prior to employment.
- You will need to reapply for the position once you hold the required licensing.
Example of Duties & Responsibilities
Drives City bus on predetermined schedule (Monday through Friday during the established public school year of September through June).
Picks up and drops off riders from pre-determined locations.
Performs other related duties as required.
