About the role
The primary responsibilities of this position include coordinating and conducting maintenance of vehicles, performing daily walk-around inspections, managing janitorial tasks, supervising children during transportation and events, and participating in various training programs.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and conduct maintenance of vehicles, including seasonal start-up inspections, routine maintenance, and final inspections.
- Conduct daily walk-around inspection of vehicles before and after use, and report problems to the Center Manager.
- Maintain an inventory of janitorial supplies and ensure compliance with the Hazard Communication Program and blood borne pathogens policy.
- Take daily attendance of children transported, and ensure they are safely secured during transportation.
- Participate in bus evacuation drills and document results.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the center, including emptying trash, picking up debris, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, sweeping/vacuuming, mopping, and waxing floors.
- Inspect and maintain playground equipment, and document inspections.
- Assist with recruitment activities and provide support or T/TA to other locations.
- Develop and manage bus routes in coordination with Family Services and Center Manager.
- Transport and supervise children during parent meetings, field trips, and health clinic visits.
- Support children with disabilities or special needs, following their Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) or Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
Requirements
- At least 21 years old and hold a valid CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements.
- Ability to work irregular and flexible hours.
- Insurable according to Department of Transportation regulations.
- Have a reliable car, valid driver's license, and adequate insurance.
- Experience in transporting young children is preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.
Qualifications
- Valid DOT physical and DOT medical card or completed DOT physical exam.
- Pre-employment drug/alcohol test.
- TB test screening showing absence of Tuberculosis.
- SIDS & Shaken Baby Training.
- Fire Extinguisher Training.
- Infant/Child CPR and First Aid upon hire or prior to transporting children.
- Random drug and alcohol testing.
