About the role

The primary responsibility of this role is to coordinate and conduct maintenance of vehicles, conduct daily inspections, manage janitorial tasks, and transport children safely.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and conduct maintenance of vehicles, including seasonal start up inspections, routine maintenance, and final inspections.
  • Conduct daily walk around inspection of vehicles, report problems to the Center Manager, and replenish items as necessary.
  • Maintain an inventory of janitorial supplies, ensure compliance with Hazard Communication Program, and handle chemical spills according to policies.
  • Take daily attendance of children transported, participate in safety checks, and report any concerns to the Center Manager.
  • Complete required paperwork, maintain vehicle operating expenditures records, and conduct monthly bus evacuation drills.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the center, including emptying trash, picking up debris, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, sweeping/vacuuming, mopping, and waxing floors.
  • Perform monthly upkeep of central air conditioning/heating systems, conduct daily playground inspections, and address potential hazards.
  • Assist with recruitment activities, provide support to other locations, develop bus routes, and assist with supervision during events like parent meetings and field trips.
  • Support children with disabilities or special needs, assist with their transportation, and participate in training for serving these children.
  • Participate in training for serving children with disabilities or special needs, assist with recruitment plan activities, and provide support or T/TA to other locations.

Requirements

  • At least 21 years old and hold a valid CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements.
  • Ability to work irregular and flexible hours.
  • Must be insurable according to Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Experience in transporting young children is preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and adequate insurance.
  • Reliable car.
  • Current DOT physical and DOT medical card or completed DOT physical exam.
  • Pre-employment drug/alcohol test.
  • TB test screening showing absence of Tuberculosis within 30 days of employment or sooner as required by local/state regulation.
  • SIDS & Shaken Baby Training prior to working with children.
  • Fire Extinguisher Training, Infant/Child CPR and First Aid upon hire or prior to transporting children.
  • Subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
