About the Role
The Servicer A (Bus Cleaner) is responsible for cleaning MTS Bus vehicles, divisional garages, shops, and office areas, as well as performing in-route bus changes under the direction and supervision of the Shop Foreman and Manager of Fleet & Facility Maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Scrub exteriors, clean interiors including walls, seats, and windows, sweep and mop bus floors, spray for insects as required, and park buses in assigned locations.
- Ensure shops are clean using solvent cleaners, empty waste baskets and trash barrels, clean lavatories and replenish paper products, and remove litter from yard areas.
- Maintain written records of bus mileage and cleaning activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to back buses into marked spaces.
- Ability to use all required cleaning instruments and components.
- Ability to read, write, and understand oral and written instructions in English and follow established safety practices.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn MTS policies and regulations.
- Ability to speak clearly, distinctly, and effectively in person-to-person or small group situations using tact and diplomacy.
Qualifications
- Must be 19 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or GED.
- Must possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license at the time of application.
- Must have three years of driving experience. If applicant has resided in California less than three years, a copy of the applicant’s driving record from previous state of residence must be submitted in addition to California records.
- Must hold or be able to obtain a Class B California license and meet DMV driving record standards as established by the Human Resources Department.
- Janitorial and cleaning experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, stoop, sit, bend, reach overhead, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle and perform tasks involving manual dexterity, such as use of a computer and 10-key.
- Work may require more than 8 hours per day and may involve working at different divisions.
- Must be able to work any day or shift, including weekends and holidays, as the Maintenance Department operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Duties are performed primarily in an outdoor and shop environment.

Pay
Starting rate of pay is $24.07 per hour with annual increases. All hourly rates are subject to negotiations with IBEW (union) and are therefore subject to change.
