Job Summary
The Building Services Technician with a focus on HVAC at Ziply Fiber will troubleshoot, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC systems, as well as other building mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems. This role also includes performing other maintenance and repairs related to Ziply Fiber buildings and properties, as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair commercial/industrial heating and cooling systems, and other mechanical equipment throughout Ziply Fiber facilities.
- Perform other miscellaneous building repairs, including moving, changing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems/devices, lighting, roofs, plumbing, etc.
- Test and diagnose a variety of issues using specialized HVAC tools and other test equipment when required.
- Perform preventative maintenance routines and make adjustments/repairs on complex building systems and equipment.
- Analyze and make programming edits to optimize performance of digital building electronic automation systems.
- Make decisions based on analysis, technical knowledge, and capabilities of equipment.
- Work independently with remote support from your manager and associates as needed.
- Understand and demonstrate the proper use of safety practices and ensure department standards are maintained while upholding company safety policies.
- Perform other duties as required to support the business and evolving organization.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Five (5) years of troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing commercial/industrial HVAC systems.
- EPA Universal Refrigerant Handling certification.
- Knowledge of commercial/industrial HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Experience using building automation systems.
- A valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and satisfactory driving record.
- To complete a pre-employment drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred of five (5) years of troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing commercial/industrial HVAC systems.
- Preferred of EPA Universal Refrigerant Handling certification.
- Preferred of knowledge of commercial/industrial HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Preferred of experience using building automation systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work independently and apply sound judgment/reasoning skills to a variety of situations.
- Ability to read and interpret HVAC schematics and diagrams.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve deficiencies related to HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Ability to use general hand and power tools including HVAC specific tools.
- Ability to work within critical deadlines.
- Ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities and schedules.
- Tolerance to work in confined spaces, outdoor environment and/or areas that are damp and dirty.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service.
Physical Requirements
- Maintaining physical condition necessary for: bending, crouching, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying weight in excess of 50 pounds, 25 pounds while climbing.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
