This is a third-shift supervisor position (10:00 PM – 6:30 AM, Monday through Friday) on the Germantown campus. The role is non-bargaining, exempt, and classified as grade 23. This position has been designated as "essential personnel," meaning the employee may be required to report to work during College suspensions or to an alternative location as directed.
Responsibilities
- Perform various supervisory functions for assigned staff, including assigning duties, establishing priorities/deadlines, and monitoring/evaluating work performance.
- Conduct performance evaluations and recommend commendations, coaching, or disciplinary actions.
- Evaluate staff training needs and coordinate/conduct in-house training.
- Review and approve timesheets, making corrections as needed.
- Schedule, assign, inspect, and review staff work to ensure compliance with established standards.
- Provide oversight for contractors (obtain/review bids, supervise work, complete purchase orders, inspect, and sign off on completed jobs).
- Assist in implementing systematic team cleaning and GS 42 standards.
- Maintain chemical safety data sheets (SDS) documentation.
- Record, inspect, and operate College vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Create, track, and complete work orders using the work order database.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Six years of progressively responsible experience performing and leading others in building custodial work.
- Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
- Successful completion of a background check and degree verification (if applicable).
- Participation in a Maryland State Retirement System plan (Pension or Optional Retirement Plan). Note: If already retired from the Maryland State Retirement System, enrollment may not be possible, and earnings restrictions may apply per state law.
- For degrees earned outside the U.S., a copy of an education equivalency evaluation conducted by a nationally recognized service must be included in the application.
Pay
Hiring range: $55,830 – $72,567 hourly. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity. The maximum salary for this position is $89,304.
