About the role
The Building Official is responsible for overseeing all aspects of building permits and inspections within the city.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the issuance and renewal of building permits
- Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with city codes and regulations
- Review plans and specifications for new construction and renovations
- Provide technical guidance and training to staff and contractors
- Respond to inquiries from the public and stakeholders regarding building codes and permits
- Prepare reports and documentation related to building permit activities
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in building inspection and permitting
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes and regulations
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Qualifications
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Experience with building information modeling (BIM) tools is a plus
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping

Pay
$75,000 annually
Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
