Building Official

About the role

SAFEbuilt is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Building Official. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building codes, zoning regulations, and construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve building plans and permits according to local building codes and regulations.
• Inspect construction sites to ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards.
• Enforce zoning laws and regulations to ensure compliance with land use policies.
• Provide technical guidance and training to contractors and developers on building codes and regulations.
• Respond to complaints and inquiries from the public regarding building and zoning issues.
• Prepare reports and documentation related to building inspections and code enforcement activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in building inspection, code enforcement, or related field.
• Knowledge of local building codes, zoning regulations, and construction practices.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

While not required, candidates with experience in fire prevention services, landscape architecture, or urbanism are encouraged to apply.

Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with building information modeling (BIM).
• Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Pay

$80,000 - $100,000 annually based on experience.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
