Building Manager
Summary of Job Duties
The Building Manager is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of multiple UAMS buildings, ensuring facility safety, functionality, space integrity, and regulatory compliance. As a key member of UAMS Building & Space Management, the Building Manager is responsible for a wide range of facility and space management activities, providing a high level of customer service while collaborating closely with stakeholders across UAMS.
This includes serving as a liaison to Engineering & Operations, Planning, Design & Construction, Environmental Services, IT, Environmental/Occupational Health & Safety, and Security Support Services. The Building Manager proactively monitors building conditions, conducts environmental and safety rounds, and coordinates resolution of operational, compliance, and facility-related issues across assigned buildings. This role facilitates space planning, occupant moves, and facility reconfigurations while maintaining the integrity of UAMS space assets and ensuring compliance with institutional policies, NCES/FICM space standards, and applicable healthcare, life safety, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in facility operations, safety, business, or related field
- Ability to follow oral instruction, read and write
- Proven customer service skills. This position serves the public and is always willing to go the extra mile
- 1 year of experience in building, facility, space management, or related
- Familiarity with regulatory codes and compliance standards (NFPA, Joint Commission, CMS, ADH, DFA)
- Working knowledge of space use standards (NCES, FICM)
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and facility management platforms
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience in facility operations, safety, business, or related field
- 2 – 5 years’ experience in building, facility, space management, or related
- Experience in healthcare or academic settings
- Knowledge of move coordination and furniture reallocation processes
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, CAFM, or space management systems
- Understanding of security and access control protocols
