Examples of Duties
- Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and polishes floors.
- Sweeps, vacuums, extracts and spot cleans carpeted areas.
- Dusts and polishes furniture and woodwork.
- Empties, cleans and lines waste receptacles and disposes of trash.
- Cleans doors, carpets, windows, walls, ceilings, window blinds and furniture.
- Polishes metalwork.
- Performs set-up and dismantling of rooms for events.
- Secures facilities and activates alarms as required.
- Requisitions building maintenance supplies, materials and equipment.
- Maintains equipment, materials and supplies in proper condition.
- Observes safe working practices, including maintaining storage areas in a safe condition.
- Mixes and dilutes cleansers, disinfectants and stripping agents.
- Reports the need for maintenance or repair of facilities to the appropriate supervisor.
- Corrects or reports any fire or safety hazards and places barriers in public areas.
- Answers questions and provides standard information to the public if working in a public facility.
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as a member of a work team.
- Drives a City motor vehicle to specified work sites.
- Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with the public and City staff.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- One (1) year of general maintenance/custodial experience.
- Valid Driver's License.

- Valid Driver's License.
Supervision Received and Exercised
- Under immediate supervision.
Physical Demands & Working Environment
- Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment and stamina to sit for extended periods of time.
- Safety practices and equipment related to the work.
- Exposure to fumes, cleaning fluids, and electrical shock.
Conditions of Employment
- Twelve (12) month probationary period.
- Continued employment contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
- May be required to stay at or return to work during emergencies.
- May be required to complete Incident Command System training.
- Must pass background and drug screen.
