BUILDING/GROUNDS LABORER

About the role

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results‑oriented individual to serve as Facilities Laborer. Responsibilities

• Operate various types of equipment, such as pallet jacks, dollies, hand tools, ladders, power carts, stackers, postage meter, duplicating equipment, faxing and copying machinery, etc.
• Assist with moves of facilities.
• Deliver and check quantity and quality of paper supplies to ensure paper is available to all offices.
• Perform scanning of property control on an as‑needed basis.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Requirements

Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of high school.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in a public or business organization performing facility moves of office furniture, equipment, etc. from one work site to another.
• 2 years of experience conducting inventories of facilities for a public or business organization.
• 2 years of experience in a public or business organization exercising basic knowledge of building maintenance equipment use and care in the performance of duties.

Conditions of Employment

• Ability to pass a background check.
• Ability to travel in the performance of duties.
• Appropriate, valid driver’s license.
• Considered heavy work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(d): lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to use hand tools, power stacker, dollies, carts and power jacks.

Anticipated starting salary $4,568 monthly; full range $4,568–$6,133 monthly.
