Building Custodian - Carlin

About the role

Under immediate supervision, cleans assigned area or facilities of the Elko County School District. Located in Carlin, Elko Nevada. Schedule: Full-Time, 261 days per year. Work environment involves medium/heavy physical demands, including lifting up to 100 lbs, frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, reaching, kneeling, handling, and repetitive fine motor activities, with exposure to varying weather conditions, noise levels, chemicals, and power/hand‑operated equipment.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and shampoos rugs and carpets.
• Cleans floors by vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, polishing, or scrubbing.
• Cleans, dusts, and polishes woodwork, furniture, glass, and other items.
• Services soap dispensers, towel boxes, and similar containers.
• Empties and cleans wastepaper baskets and other refuse containers.
• Cleans chalkboards, trays, and erasers.
• Moves and adjusts chairs, desks, tables, supplies, furniture, and equipment.
• Strips, seals, and waxes floors.
• Removes spots and graffiti from floors, walls, woodwork, furniture, carpets, and fixtures.
• Washes and scrubs walls, lavatory fixtures, windows, drinking fountains, drains, lights, light fixtures, and painted surfaces.
• Shovels, plows, and/or sands walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps as appropriate.
• Operates power sweepers, polishers, and other power equipment.
• Performs grounds‑keeping activities such as grass cutting, tree and lawn trimming, fertilizing, etc., as necessary to maintain school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.
• May be required to move, assemble, or disassemble furniture, equipment, or other items, or to assist other crafts in an emergency or as the need arises.
• Conforms to safety standards as prescribed.
• Performs other tasks related to the position as assigned.

Requirements

• High school graduation or other equivalent (e.g., GED, college, technical, or trade school transcript, foreign equivalency, etc.).
• Preferred: Custodial experience.
