About the role

The BAS Controls Technician II position is critical to ensuring our customers receive top-notch service related to the installation, programming, and service of commercial digital control systems. This role involves providing technician support for BAS, maintenance agreements, system upgrades, and controls-related service requests.

Responsibilities

  • Provide responsive and professional customer service with the goal of building and maintaining long-term customer relationships
  • Identify, analyze, diagnose, and troubleshoot direct digital control systems
  • Perform preventative maintenance, commissioning, and replacement modifications as needed or requested by customers
  • Maintain building automation systems by inspecting trend logs, reports, schedules, applications, hardware, and programming
  • Provide controls technical support to HVAC technicians
  • Create and/or implement programming and graphics for new installations and retrofit projects
  • Commission controls installations and verify that control sequences meet scope, design, or specifications
  • Provide training and follow-ups for customers and operations personnel
  • Complete work orders and review with customers for accuracy
  • Continually look for ways to improve processes and serve customers effectively

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of related experience with increasing responsibility
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs with or without accommodation

Qualifications

  • Experience in BAS, HVAC, or related industry
  • Proficiency with test instruments and calibration tools
  • Competency in operation of engineering/commissioning tools, DDC controllers and field devices, BACnet protocol fundamentals
  • Competency in the operation of HVAC equipment and controls
  • Ability to understand written sequences of operation
  • Ability to read low voltage wiring diagrams and controls flow diagrams
  • Niagara AX and/or Niagara 4 certification
  • Experience with common integration protocols such as: BACnet MST / IP, LON, Modbus TCP / RTU, Ethernet OIP, MQTT, or SQL
  • Strong computer skills, including computer networking fundamentals
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Customer-focused, results-oriented professional, and strong team player
  • Motivated self-starter that demonstrates initiative
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and stay organized
  • Current first aid / CPR card

Pay

The typical hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $37.90 - $60.46 in MD/DC.
