Building Automation Service Specialist - Mid level

This role is based in Cambridge, MA (single-site support) and is commutable from Arlington, Somerville, Waltham, Newton, Medford, and surrounding Metro Boston communities.

About the role

Our Service Specialists perform assigned tasks on automation systems, including service agreement maintenance, projects, and on-call (time and material) service. You will respond to emergency service calls during regularly scheduled hours and after hours as needed. As the face of Siemens, your expertise and regular interaction with customers will help them save energy and money while creating a more sustainable future.

Responsibilities

• Execute digitalization and standard service operations strategies
• Work with multiple internal service team members including Service Sales, Client Service Managers, Service Coordinators, and RAM Digital Service Center personnel
• Follow safety requirements as outlined by Siemens and customers; complete assigned training
• Adhere to mandatory policies, procedures, and standards; coordinate with contractors on job sites; maintain tools and test equipment
• Support after-hours on-call rotation; respond to service calls (emergency and on-site) as assigned; perform repairs on all automation system types
• Complete service ticket documentation per policy; follow and maintain preventive maintenance schedules
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation of services performed; generate reports within Siemens tools
• Provide instructions to customer personnel regarding proper system operations; assist with training
• Identify and report system discrepancies; suggest system upgrade opportunities; assist in pricing repairs and upgrades
• Perform system checkout and startup on projects; work overtime when needed (compressed schedule performance may require extended hours)
• Participate in off-site training (based in Buffalo Grove, IL & virtually)
• Participate in job site final walk and/or final completion for systems-to-service turnover; perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting, or commissioning electronic control systems, HVAC equipment, building automation systems, or related electromechanical systems
• Demonstrated experience working with electromechanical systems through employment, military service, technical training, or education, including use of personal computers, software applications, and electronic diagnostic equipment (e.g., multimeters)
• Ability and willingness to work in various circumstances, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in varied conditions
• Ability and willingness to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet; carry and move equipment/tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
• Ability and willingness to work overtime when needed
• Must be 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license and limited violations; must meet eligibility for Siemens’ fleet vehicle program
• Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
• High school diploma or state-recognized GED

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience installing and servicing electronic control or HVAC equipment
• Knowledge of building automation systems, PLCs, HVAC, electrical concepts, network diagnostics, and building operations
• Engineering and programming (PLC or BMS) background
• Knowledge of building system communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, TCP/IP)
• Specialized skill training/certification

Pay

The pay range for this position is $58,976 - $101,102 annually. The actual wage offered may vary based on budget, candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
