About the role

TheAir Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA) seeks an experienced Budget & Financial Analyst for our office in Tysons (McLean), Virginia. This position is integral to the Finance team, contributing to the development of the annual ALPA budget proposal to the Executive Council.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and analyze budget proposals and forecasts under diverse economic conditions.
  • Work with council officers, committee chairs, department directors, and executive management to model budget proposals and create the annual budget.
  • Prepare detailed reports on budgeted and actual expenditures for budget administrators and executives.
  • Communicate financial analyses and dashboards to finance staff, pilots, and executives.
  • Collaborate with other staff, departments, and committees to ensure alignment with overall organizational goals.
  • Contribute to the development of financial strategies and policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant area, such as Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field, from an accredited college or university required; master’s degree or completion of post-graduate courses a plus; or, the equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
  • Three (3) years of related experience required, seven (7) or more strongly preferred.
  • Strong quantitative and computer modeling skills required.
  • Database reporting skills strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of budget and financial methods, data analysis techniques, and modelling of budget and financial performance preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written, for effective interaction with internal executives, staff, pilots, and external contacts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on multiple projects and exercise sound judgment.
  • Solid time management skills; ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment; work independently on multiple projects; and, transition easily between projects.
  • Software proficiency: Microsoft Excel (including Pivot Tables), Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with Tableau (or other Business Intelligence tools) and Infor Financials & Supply Management platforms a plus.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or completion of post-graduate courses in relevant fields preferred.
  • Experience in budget and financial analysis preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.

Projected Annual Salary Range: $73,625.00 – $115,549.00
