About the role
The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA) seeks an experienced Budget & Financial Analyst for our office in Tysons (McLean), Virginia. Reporting to the Finance team, the Budget & Financial Analyst is a central contributor to a staff group responsible for developing the annual ALPA budget proposal to the Executive Council. The group works with council officers, committee chairs, department directors, and executive management to model budget proposals and create the annual budget. They analyze, report, and forecast revenues and project cash flows under various economic conditions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and communicate financial analyses and dashboards for budget administrators and executives, including detailed reports on budgeted and actual expenditures.
- Work in conjunction with other staff, departments, and committees to support the development of the annual budget proposal.
- Interact with National Officers, MEC Officers, committees, and management to provide financial insights and recommendations.
- Provide clear explanations of budget, financial, and other concepts and results to internal and external contacts.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, exercising sound judgment and managing time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Use Microsoft Excel (including Pivot Tables), Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook to manage projects and communicate findings.
- Utilize Tableau (or other Business Intelligence tools) and Infor Financials & Supply Management platforms to enhance financial analysis and reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field from an accredited college or university required; master’s degree or completion of post-graduate courses a plus.
- Three (3) years of related experience required, seven (7) or more strongly preferred.
- Strong quantitative and computer modeling skills required.
- Database reporting skills strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of budget and financial methods, data analysis techniques, and modelling of budget and financial performance preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written, for effective interaction with internal executives, staff, pilots, and external contacts.
- Solid time management skills; ability to work independently on multiple projects; and, transition easily between projects.
Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Excel (including Pivot Tables), Word, Power Point, and Outlook.
- Experience with Tableau (or other Business Intelligence tools) and Infor Financials & Supply Management platforms a plus.

$73,625.00 – $115,549.00

Constantly operates a computer/smartphone/tablet. Regularly required to maintain a stationary position; move about the office; determine what others have said or written; and, converse with others and exchange accurate information. Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the office and travel (locally and nationally). May also include occasional bending, stooping, squatting, and/or pushing and pulling, e.g., to pack, unpack, and/or move cases. Occasionally required to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve binders, books, boxes, and files up to ten (10) pounds (lbs.). While on travel, could be responsible to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve luggage weighing as much as 50 lbs. (Assistance may not always be available.)
