Responsibilities

  • Administering a District financial management program which includes long-range programmatic plans and the annual budget as key components.
  • Ensuring that all obligations, expenditures, unobligated orders and available balances are properly maintained, supported, and documented.
  • Providing technical guidance, advice and assistance to the Administrative Officer and the United States Attorney in the identification of future resource requirements, and in the planning and development of future budget requirements.
  • Conducting periodic reviews, identifying any problems or issues involving the obligation process, and preparing monthly financial and budgetary reports.

Requirements

You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.

If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.

You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

  • GS-9: To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below:
  • Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience reviewing account obligations and payments, utilizing an automated accounting system to enter a variety of obligations, verifying costs of expenditures, AND tracking and monitoring credit card obligations for accuracy and completeness.
  • OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Accounting, Financial Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, etc.
  • OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
  • GS-11: To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below:
  • Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience reviewing complex account obligations and payments, utilizing an automated accounting system to enter and verify a variety of obligations, verifying costs of expenditures, tracking and monitoring credit card obligations for accuracy and completeness; conducting periodic reviews, identifying any problems or issues involving the obligation process; AND preparing monthly financial and budgetary reports.
  • OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Accounting, Financial Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, etc.
  • OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
