Budget Analyst (Field)
About the role
This position is located in the Office of Field Operations. The incumbent provides assistance and program oversight to budget support and analysis functions for Field Operations.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the Field Divisions primary resource on matters concerning administrative and training program budgets.
- Prepares various reports, exhibits, analyses, numerous tables, and other material relating to budget estimates and justification.
- Maintains and monitors the execution of the Field Divisions operational budget.
- Analyzes annual budget submissions for the Field Division to assure consistency and compliance with established ATF, DOJ and federal policies.
Requirements
Conditions of employment: Must be U.S. Citizen or National. Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st, 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file. May be required to serve a one-year probationary period. Suitable for Federal employment determined by background investigation. Must meet all applicable time-in-grade requirements by the closing of this announcement. Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position.
- GS-9: Experience: Candidates must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-7), obtained in either the public or private sectors performing all of the following: demonstrated knowledge of budgeting policies and regulations; demonstrated knowledge of commonly used budget procedures, experience retrieving budget data, and experience preparing budget-related reports and records.
- GS-11: Experience: Candidates must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-9), obtained in either the public or private sectors performing all of the following: demonstrated knowledge of budgeting policies and regulations used to prepare division budget reports; experience analyzing the effects of budget changes; experience retrieving budget data; and experience presenting and exchanging budget related information in meetings.
- GS-12: Experience: Candidates must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11), obtained in either the public or private sectors performing all of the following: demonstrated knowledge of budget policies and processes; experience using financial management systems (such as UFMS and Business Objects) to analyze financial reports; experience reviewing budget submissions to analyze fund statuses; experience presenting budget-related findings and recommendations to Leadership.
