Budget Analyst

About the role

Serves as an analyst to systematically integrate business, cost estimating and financial management processes aiding to ensure the efficient stewardship of public funds. Supports the formulation of strategic financial plans, prepares cost estimates, and correlates financing requirements into executable budgets. Possesses thorough knowledge of the allocation, execution, and administration of approved budgets. Assesses products and procedures for compliance with Government standards, accounting principles, internal controls, and multi tiered system application standards.

Responsibilities

• Serves as an analyst to systematically integrate business, cost estimating and financial management processes aiding to ensure the efficient stewardship of public funds.
• Sets up and maintains financial models and reports using Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
• Supports the formulation of strategic financial plans, prepares cost estimates, and correlates financing requirements into executable budgets.
• Possesses thorough knowledge of the allocation, execution, and administration of approved budgets.
• Affirms compliance with Government standards, accounting principles, internal controls, and multi-tiered system application standards.
• Ensures that tasks are completed in the time frame specified by the client and assists in the preparation of milestone status reports and presentations for colleagues, subordinates, management, and end user representatives.
• Assists in the development of financial reports for project managers.
• Tracks status of funds in real time.
• May leverage expertise to support multiple organizations and/or Centers.
• Assists in the development of financial reports for project managers.
• Develops new reports and visuals.
• Manages resource logs that track Budget Requests, Funds Received, and Actuals.
• Assists in the preparation of milestone status reports and presentations for colleagues, subordinates, management, and end user representatives.
• Assists in the preparation of financial reports for project managers.
• Assists in the preparation of financial reports for project managers.

Requirements

• High School Diploma and 8 years of relevant experience or Bachelors Degree and 6 years of related experience.
• Must be US Citizen and be eligible to pass a background check.
• Desired qualifications/non essential skills required: BA/BS in finance, accounting, or business administration. Previous Experience With NASA Or Other Government Experience. Experience with Power BI including but not limited to Refreshing/updating data sources. Maintaining and editing reports. Developing new reports and visuals. Experience managing resource logs that track Budget Requests, Funds Received, and Actuals. Experience Developing financial reports for project managers. Experience with phasing plans. Experience tracking status of funds in real time.
