Working Conditions
This position is located at:
1416 9th Street 12th Floor Sacramento, CA 95814.
The Budget Office is located at the newly renovated Labor Agency Building in Downtown Sacramento.
The incumbent works 40 hours per week in a cubicle in an office setting that is air-conditioned with elevator access and natural and artificial lighting. Typical work requires prolonged use of a computer, as well as interaction with co-workers. Travel may occasionally be required for meetings, training, etc. Partial telework is available as approved by the Department.

Department Information
The Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) was established in 1927. Its mission is to improve working conditions for California's wage earners and to advance opportunities for profitable employment in California. DIR administers and enforces laws governing wages, workplace safety and health, apprenticeship training programs, and medical care and other benefits for injured workers.
Special Requirements
A STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS (SOQ) IS REQUIRED.
The SOQ must be in 11-point Arial font and be limited to no more than two (2) pages. Each individual response must be numbered and include the full text of the numbered items below prior to the response.
- Please describe your experience with analyzing data. Provide specific examples.
- Please describe your proficiency and experience with Microsoft Excel. Describe any relevant work or educational experience in Excel. How many years of experience do you have using Excel? What functions in Excel can you perform?
- Please describe your experience preparing written summaries, analyses and/or recommendations.
Desirable Qualifications
- Budget development experience.
- Proficient w/ Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Proficient w/ Peoplesoft and Hyperion.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Experience generating ad hoc reports and performing data analysis.
- Experience forecasting revenues and expenditures.
- Experience in analysis of proposed legislation and regulations.
- Knowledge of governmental accounting and budgeting processes and procedures.
- Ability to work professionally and cooperatively with others.
- Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and workload management skills
- Ability to read and comprehend technical documents such as policies, procedures, standards, regulations, statutes, technical reports, and contracts.
- Ability to extract relevant facts and information from documents in order to perform project planning, problem solving, or summarize information both verbally and in writing to a wide array of stakeholders.
