About the Role

This role requires the ability and drive to collaborate effectively with others to achieve common goals while also working independently in the field with minimal supervision. You must have your own vehicle and tools.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with customers effectively and professionally
• Read mainframe/cross-connect/control point layouts to run jumpers
• Read, understand, and follow instructions on dispatched jobs, trouble tickets, project prints, throw and sequence sheets, and associated record updates
• Utilize test equipment and interpret test results for all workstreams
• Demonstrate necessary computer skills and Android platform mobile device application usage
• Apply knowledge of basic electricity and transmission of "xDSL" (variations of Digital Subscriber Lines)
• Complete requirements for each unit and configure customer-owned computers
• Connect fiber optic jumpers and drops (aerial, buried, and plenum)
• Educate customers in internet access
• Provide experience in telephone service (VOIP or Copper, as appropriate)
• Work with routers and home networking
• Use test sets as required
• Perform general computer skills
• Install or reuse COAX or CAT 5 wiring
• Utilize MOCA or Wi-Fi technology for installations
• Install aerial drops, internet hubs, routers, ONT, and power supplies
• Demonstrate knowledge of COAX cable sizes, types, and connector installation
• Work with fiber and copper facilities
• Adhere to ladder safety and OSHA safety requirements
• Perform pole climbing when necessary
• Splice fiber drop connectors
• Install and repair stations (Cat 3, Cat 5e, Cat6, RJ11, RJ45 jacks, drop, and NID)
• Understand technical concepts such as loss, attenuation, and tiling
• Apply the telephony color code and identify assigned cable pairs
• Verify service and place wires between walls when required
• Adhere to work zone requirements
• Bury CAT5/coax up to 50 ft when needed
• Run temporary fiber drops without creating safety hazards (e.g., over roads, sidewalks, or driveways)
• Use workforce management systems, including Mobile Tech Portal and associated task clearing codes
• Work within attics or crawl spaces
