Bridge Repair Assistant/Trainee 1/Trainee 2 (Region 5 Erie & Niagara Counties)
About the role
This position performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair activities in combination of trades associated with bridge repair and maintenance at various locations throughout Erie and Niagara Counties.
Responsibilities
- Perform aboveground work in the repair and maintenance of bridges
- Use and operate tools, equipment, and vehicles required in bridge repair and maintenance operations
- Perform Winter Maintenance including Snow & Ice removal activities
- Participate in the Department's written respiratory protection program
- Serve in a role within the Incident Command System to support the Department's response to regional and statewide emergency situations
Requirements
Working knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the various trades as they apply to bridge repair and maintenance operations. Basic knowledge of Highway Safety Manual as it applies to bridge repair maintenance operations. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor.
Qualifications
Journey Level: Two years experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled tradesman, or training through completion of a technical course in a bridge or technical trade at a school or institute. Must have a Class B Commercial Driver License.
Trainee 2: Commercial Driver License and more than one year, but less than two years, of qualifying experience (as described in journey level qualifications).
Trainee 1: Class D Motor Vehicle License and less than one year of qualifying experience (as described in journey level qualifications).
Pay
- Bridge Repair Assistant Trainee 1: $52,606 (base salary $43,606 + $9,000 geographic pay differential)
- Bridge Repair Assistant Trainee 2: $54,809 (base salary $45,809 + $9,000 geographic pay differential)
- Bridge Repair Assistant: $59,656 (base salary $50,656 + $9,000 geographic pay differential)
