Brass Instructor
About the role
This position involves leading music and arts programs within the corps, planning and attending recitals, and organizing community activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead music and other arts programs as assigned within the corps.
- Plan and implement weekly music lessons using appropriate curriculum.
- Prepare and participate in Bravo recitals and the annual Bravo concert.
- Encourage participants to achieve goals and enhance their self-esteem through musical development.
- Organize and assist with summer camps to foster further talent development and spiritual growth.
- Support and promote the mission of The Salvation Army by encouraging attendance at summer camps and participating in divisional music camps.
- Help plan and participate in various summer music day camps.
- Perform light physical work necessary for music program operations.
- Use standard office equipment and a PC as required.
- Travel occasionally to attend events and meetings.
- Drive a Salvation Army or personal vehicle for business purposes.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in music is preferred, or extensive experience teaching music.
- A minimum of two years' music experience working with children/adults is required.
- Performance experience is preferred.
- No certifications/licenses are required.

- Demonstrated proficiency in music theory and a primary instrument.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
