Brass Instructor
About the role
This position involves leading music and arts programs within the corps, planning and attending recitals, and organizing community activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead music and other arts programs as assigned within the corps.
- Plan and implement weekly music lessons and curriculum for assigned classes.
- Prepare and lead music programs for the Bravo concert at the end of each school year.
- Encourage participants to set goals and develop musical abilities.
- Organize and participate in summer camps to foster further talent development and spiritual growth.
- Support and assist in planning summer music day camps.
- Help plan and participate in community musical performances.
- Perform light physical work as needed for music program activities.
- Use standard office equipment and a PC as required.
- Travel occasionally for job-related purposes.
- Drive a Salvation Army or personal vehicle for Salvation Army business.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in music preferred, or extensive experience teaching music.
- Experience: At least two years of music experience working with children and adults.
- Performance experience is preferred.
- Certifications/Licenses: None required.

- Demonstrated proficiency in music theory and a primary instrument.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Positive attitude and flexibility in changing job situations.
- Commitment to supporting and promoting The Salvation Army's mission.
Qualifications
- Must be able to use instruments and equipment needed in a music program.
- Must be available to help plan summer camps and music day camps.
- Must be able to drive a Salvation Army or personal vehicle for Salvation Army business.
