About the role
The Global Brand Strategy and Insights team at Vanguard is seeking a Brand Strategy Consultant to work closely with Personal Wealth teams. This role involves translating enterprise brand strategy into focused messaging, compelling experiences, and creative inspiration, while also serving as a strategic partner to shape positioning, messaging, and campaigns.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted brand strategy advisor to senior leaders across the personal wealth client organization, helping teams solve complex business challenges by connecting enterprise brand strategy, audience insight, and marketing execution in ways that drive results.
- Stays current on market trends and the competitive landscape as they relate to brand and marketing strategy, bringing perspective that helps partners spot opportunities and stay ahead in the marketplace.
- Translate research and competitive intelligence into action, distilling complexity into clear implications that help partners make better decisions.
- Partner with marketing, communications, and business teams to shape marketing strategy, positioning, messaging, and go-to-market efforts.
- Collaborate with partners on enterprise and divisional campaigns – ensuring work is insight-driven, creatively inspiring, and consistent with Vanguard’s brand while remaining relevant to specific audiences and business priorities.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, providing clear perspective, proactive engagement, and thoughtful communication that informs key decisions and drives alignment across partners.
- Develop and deliver formal and informal training, tools, and frameworks that build acumen and capabilities across teams.
- Proactively identifies, manages, and mitigates risks on marketing activities. Communicates solutions on key issues to management and stakeholders to obtain their input and buy-in as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Minimum eight years of related experience, ideally in brand strategy, marketing, advertising, or consulting.
- Proven experience consulting with senior leaders and navigating complex, matrixed organizations.
- Demonstrates an entrepreneurial mindset, with a strong sense of ownership, proactivity, and comfort navigating ambiguity.
- Hands-on experience in business, brand, consumer, or audience analysis.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to distill complexity into concise, actionable narratives.
- Strong project management and collaboration skills.
- Undergraduate degree in marketing, communications, or equivalent experience required; graduate degree preferred.
- Familiarity with financial services, advisors, or intermediaries is a plus, but not required.
