About the role

The Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking a Branch Operations Manager (Human Services Supervisor 2) to support the Alberta Branch in Portland. This position works in the store front office and provides leadership and performs administrative functions to carry out objectives and goals of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Use department staff, programs, and local community resources to implement the department's vision while exercising leadership and carrying out administrative duties in order to accomplish the Oregon Eligibility Partnership's objectives and goals.
  • Encourage service fairness, customer service, uniformity, and operational effectiveness by assessing the eligibility team and providing direction inside the ONE system.
  • Manage and direct branch cross-functional teams, local programs, and community collaboration efforts by assigning work procedures consistent with the department's policies, recommending revisions to department policies and procedures, establishing work schedules, and monitoring work performed by office staff to meet agreed upon goals, objectives, and targets.
  • Help design, implement, evaluate, and modify programs and services legislated by federal, state, and local governments.
  • Achieve the ODHS goals of integrity, stewardship, responsibility, respect, service equity, innovation, and professionalism.
  • Assure that program delivery performance of the work team complies with department expectations, objectives, laws, rules, regulations, and case management practices.
  • Anticipate agency needs and direction and communicate that vision to staff and the community so that effective change can occur when needed.
  • Seek to provide culturally appropriate services where individuals are treated respectfully, compassionately, and effectively in a manner that recognizes, affirms, and values the worth of children, individuals, families, and communities, protecting and preserving the dignity of each.

Requirements

  • Four years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience; OR one year of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required for this position.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of one year of experience working with Human or Social Services programs.
  • Experience navigating computer and online systems, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and search engines.
  • Experience in promoting and fostering a diverse and qualified workforce with demonstrated commitment to inclusivity, equity, and anti-racism, and striving for a discrimination/harassment-free work environment.
  • Experience increasing employee engagement, supporting positive environments, organizing people to reach a goal, delegating effectively, coaching, and mentoring to achieve success.
  • Experience providing leadership and support to staff that includes promoting professional development.
  • Experience understanding how to read production reports and analyze data to manage staff and complete special projects.
  • Experience with communication styles and communicating clearly & professionally in writing and verbally with both internal and external customers.

Pay

$5,907 - $9,143 per month.

Schedule

Traditional office environment with daily phone contact with customers, including those dealing with emotional stress, financial stress, or substance abuse issues. High stress environment due to a high-volume workload with short time frames. Irregular work hours with some evening and weekend work are expected (i.e., work a professional workweek). Requires a valid driver’s license or other acceptable method of transportation for routine travel. Most travel will be local, but may include travel across the state, often to Salem. May involve occasional overnight stay away from local area.
