About the Role

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is seeking a passionate and forward-thinking Executive Director with a proven track record of developing a strong branch board, increasing annual giving, and engaging the community through membership and program growth. This leader will report directly to the Group Vice President and oversee day-to-day operations, focusing on staff supervision, membership and program development, fiscal management, fundraising, volunteer cultivation, and community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a culture of quality and service to meet and exceed strategic plan goals and Board of Directors standards.
  • Represent and promote the Y in the local community by developing strategic, collaborative relationships with organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor a balanced operating budget to meet or exceed targets.
  • Create and direct high-quality, relationship-based member engagement strategies.
  • Provide metrics to measure program/membership impact, staff, and program/membership satisfaction.
  • Maintain branch and association certifications in CPR, Multimedia First Aid, Blood-borne Pathogens, and complete required orientations and emergency procedures.
  • Manage program delivery to exceed YMCA standards and objectives.
  • Participate in branch and association-wide activities and initiatives.
  • Act as the LEAD campaigner for the Why It Matters Annual Giving Campaign, including volunteer recruitment, training, and support.
  • Serve on the Executive Cabinet, liaise with professional groups, and participate in Metro Task Forces.
  • Develop an effective board, recruiting members who represent the branch community and building a strong committee structure.
  • Ensure revenue growth through innovation and member-focused programs supporting the Y’s mission and goals.
  • Mentor, supervise, and develop branch staff and volunteers, fostering an exceptional culture.
  • Oversee facility management and maintenance to ensure high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment, maintaining a culture of risk management and safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years of overall leadership experience or high school diploma and 12+ years of directly relevant experience with the Y or a closely related non-profit.
  • 2+ years of successful experience managing large teams in an executive-level or senior management position.
  • Business management skills and demonstrated ability to lead people.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations, corporations, and government agencies.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Passionate commitment to the YMCA mission, values, and purpose.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, social services, business, or equivalent.
  • Experience directing total operations through volunteer development, staff supervision, budget management, marketing, public relations, and program development.
  • Hands-on experience working with a diverse population in a YMCA (strongly preferred).
  • 12+ years of directly relevant experience with the YMCA or a closely related non-profit.
  • 4+ years of management experience with strategic vision and relationship-building, preferably in a YMCA or other non-profit agency.
