OTHRFull-time

About the Role

As the Business Process Expert (BPE) - SCOA (Standard Chart of Accounts), you will own the end-to-end global design, governance, and continuous improvement of the organization’s Standard Chart of Accounts within the GBS and wider Finance organization. You will ensure that SCOA remains standardized, scalable, and compliant, acting as a critical foundation for financial, statutory, tax, and management reporting. Acting as the key link between Finance (e.g., Group Controller’s team), GBS operations, and IT/Digital teams, you will define the global blueprint for financial data structures and drive consistency, automation, and data integrity across regions and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Global SCOA Ownership: Accountable for the global design and governance of the Standard Chart of Accounts, including defining and maintaining the SCOA structure, hierarchy, and design principles (to L4 level), ensuring consistency across all entities, regions, and systems.
  • Change Control and Design Authority: Act as the global gatekeeper for all SCOA changes, defining and operating a robust change control process to ensure updates are assessed, approved, documented, and implemented while safeguarding financial data integrity.
  • Process Standardization and Harmonization: Drive and maintain global standardization of account usage and definitions, ensuring alignment with Group accounting policies and eliminating regional deviations or unnecessary complexity.
  • SCOA Compliance and Advisory: Provide expert guidance on the correct application of SCOA across Finance and GBS organizations, ensuring consistent and compliant usage.
  • Data Model and Master Data Governance: Own financial data structures related to SCOA (e.g., account hierarchies, attributes, mappings), ensuring data consistency, quality, and alignment across ERP systems and reporting tools.
  • Systems and Integration Ownership: Ensure SCOA is properly embedded within ERP systems (e.g., S/4HANA) and financial platforms, defining system requirements and collaborating with IT/Digital teams for automation and seamless integration.
  • Continuous Improvement and Future-Proofing: Proactively evolve SCOA to address changing business needs, regulatory requirements, and reporting demands, identifying simplification opportunities and driving scalability initiatives.
  • M&A and Onboarding Support: Support mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures by defining SCOA mapping and onboarding strategies, ensuring efficient integration of new entities while maintaining global standards.
  • Stakeholder Management and Functional Leadership: Collaborate with Group Controller’s team, Regional Finance teams, GBS operations, Tax, Treasury, and IT, acting as the central point of expertise for SCOA-related topics and leading the global SCOA network.
  • Documentation and Change Transparency: Maintain high-standard SCOA documentation, definitions, and rule sets, ensuring transparency and accessibility for users.
  • Change and Transformation Leadership: Support global transformation initiatives (e.g., ERP implementations, finance digitization), ensuring SCOA implications are assessed and embedded into process and system design, driving adoption with minimal disruption.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, ACCA, or equivalent certification preferred.
  • 5-8+ years of experience in financial accounting, reporting, or financial data management within a multinational environment.
  • Strong understanding of Chart of Accounts design, financial data structures, and reporting requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience with ERP systems (preferably SAP S/4HANA) and financial master data governance.
  • Proven track record in process design, standardization, and finance transformation initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across global and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into data, system, and process solutions.
  • Experience in leading change, driving adoption, and operating in a matrix organization.
