Bouldering Instructor
We are seeking a part-time Bouldering Instructor to support an outdoor rock wall at a corporate headquarters in Menlo Park, CA.
Responsibilities
- Educate members on proper use of climbing equipment, safety procedures, and facility features.
- Lead or assist with instructional climbing programs, including foundational skills courses and specialty classes.
- Continuously monitor participants, climbing activities, and facility areas to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Address member and guest questions, concerns, feedback, and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the climbing wall and surrounding areas.
- Collaborate with team members and provide operational support across the broader fitness center as needed.
- Contribute to a positive member experience by promoting safety, customer service, and a strong climbing community culture.
- Foster a welcoming, engaging, and safety-focused environment for climbers of all skill levels.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 months of experience in a climbing-related role, or at least 2 years of experience in an indoor climbing facility and/or as an outdoor climbing guide.
- Minimum of 6 months of route-setting experience.
- Demonstrated climbing instruction experience, including teaching belaying, lead climbing, and technical movement classes.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
- Proficient in teaching belay, lead climbing, and technical movement classes.
- Experience setting and forerunning V4/5.10.
- Strong multi-tasking, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledgeable about the industry with strong customer service skills to engage with clients, guests, and participants.
- Competent with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Preferred: A current nationally recognized Rock Climbing Certification such as PCIA or AMGA.

Pay
The hourly rate for this position ranges from $15 to $25, based on factors including education, work experience, certifications, and geographic differentials. Plus One offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, life and disability benefits, 401(k) plan, and paid time off.
