Border Patrol Agent - Entry Level

About the role

The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) is hiring immediate entry-level career positions in federal law enforcement. These positions offer a mission worth a career, with excellent base pay, benefits, and incentives.

Responsibilities

• Deterring illicit activity and enhancing national economic prosperity
• Protecting the American people by safeguarding borders
• Inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations
• Inspecting farms, buildings, and transportation for illegal activities
• Patrolling the international border and coastal waterways
• Using various government assets such as vehicles, horses, vessels, watercraft, off-road vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and motorcycles
• Working with a team of professionals who share a sense of purpose and camaraderie

Requirements

• One year of general work experience demonstrating leadership and decision-making skills
• One year of specialized work experience in law enforcement or military law enforcement
• A bachelor's degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, or superior academic achievement in a related field
• Spanish proficiency, as well as English
• U.S. citizenship and primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years
• Age under 40 at the time of hire

Qualifications

• GL-5: One year of general work experience or a bachelor's degree with education substitution
• GL-7: One year of specialized work experience or a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement, or a combination of experience and education

Benefits

• Annual Base Salary ranging from $51,632 to $92,912 per year
• Exceptional benefits including health, dental, and other insurance plans, annual and sick leave, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan
• Up to $60,000 in additional incentives, including a $20,000 recruitment incentive and up to $40,000 in retention incentives

Pay and Schedule

• Pay reform act allows up to 25% additional pay for fully trained agents
• Career ladder position with grades GL-5, GL-7, GL-9, GS-11, and GS-12
