About the role
A growing construction services company is seeking a Construction Bookkeeper to support accounts payable, payroll, job costing, and general accounting functions. This role is ideal for a proactive professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, partnering with field personnel, and identifying ways to improve processes and efficiencies.
Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle accounts payable and payroll processing, ensuring labor hours, materials, and expenses are accurately coded to the appropriate jobs and projects.
- Partner with field employees and supervisors to verify timekeeping, project allocations, and job costing information.
- Aid with month-end close activities, including bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and other accounting support for leadership.
- Oversee fleet-related compliance requirements, including vehicle registrations, permits, and highway use tax reporting.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting workflows, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Strong accounts payable and payroll experience required.
- Construction, contracting, or construction services industry experience required.
- Knowledge of job costing, project accounting, and labor allocations.
- Experience supporting month-end close activities.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to think critically and recommend process improvements.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
