Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of metal bonding assembly operations including cleaning, degreasing, braze processing, furnace heat-treating, inspecting, hand-finishing, and packing to produce components meeting quality bonding requirements and company/customer specifications.
- Clean parts using ultrasonic degreasing equipment, cleaners, and acid baths as specified.
- Use a brazing gun to apply brazing material to metal parts or assemble brazing rings/parts to mating components.
- Operate vacuum furnaces for brazing/heat-treating parts, including entering data into furnace computer control units according to sequence listings.
- Utilize hydrogen furnaces to heat/braze various parts.
- Remove parts from furnaces, allow them to cool, and inspect for proper brazing.
- Conduct leak tests on parts using helium or other test equipment.
- Perform hand-finishing tasks such as cleaning, deburring, filing, and wiping, then pack items into plastic bags or containers.
- Refer problems to a supervisor and maintain necessary records.
- Move materials as required and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials, or unusual conditions.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area and equipment.
- Follow established company rules, regulations, safety precautions, and quality standards.
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned by a supervisor.
Requirements
- Ability to use arithmetic, including decimals and fractions.
- Experience interpreting blueprints, travelers, codes, and identifications.
- Proficiency working with work orders, drawings, sketches, furnace sequence instructions, and verbal/written instructions.
- Familiarity with metal bonding furnaces (hydrogen and vacuum), brazing gun applicators, hand tools (files, pliers, tweezers, deburring tools), degreasing tanks, ultrasonic cleaners, brazing compounds, solvents, cleaners, and packing materials.
Physical Requirements
- May be required to stand, walk, use hands to finger/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
- May be required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- May occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
