Job Summary
The Shop Boilermaker performs maintenance and installs equipment related to various types of towers, heat exchangers, heaters, and plant piping to blueprint specifications, using power tools and hand tools.
Essential Functions
- Read blueprints to determine location and relationship of parts
- Repair or replace defective pressure vessel parts, such as safety valves or regulators, using torches, jacks, caulking hammers, power saws, threading dies, welding equipment, or metalworking machinery
- Locate and mark reference points for columns or plates on boiler foundations, following blueprints and using straightedges, squares, transits, or measuring instruments
- Bolts or screw accessories, such as manholes, hand holes, fans, gauges, and valves to vessels
- May perform general piping work such as line breaking, installing blinds, and gaskets
- Bolt or arc weld pressure vessel structures and parts together, using wrenches or welding equipment
- May install equipment internals, packings, catalysts, and desiccants in vessels
- Tighten bolts to assemble frames, using power or hand wrenches
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks
- Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
Education And Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED or Equivalent
- At least 3 to 5 years’ experience as a Boilermaker
- Must have NCCER for Boilermaker Skills

Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
- Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
- Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds
- Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions
