BOB- Construction Project Manager II

About the role

The New York City Department of Transportation, Division of Bridges is responsible for managing the full life cycle of over 800 bridges and tunnels and over 600 retaining walls, ensuring safety of the public and ensuring mobility for all users. Team members may work on major project designs, oversee construction, oversee maintenance activities, perform engineering reviews and quality assurance tasks on some of the most iconic and complex projects in the City.

Responsibilities

• Assign and coordinate the activities of in-house crews
• Make flag and corrective repairs to the city’s elevated infrastructure
• Review engineering plans in preparation for repair jobs
• Prepare work tickets and lane closure applications and draft U.S. Coast Guard notices of upcoming work
• Coordinate with skilled trades in the field to solve logistical problems and ensure safety standards are maintained
• Monitor daily progress of projects and confirm the use of materials per industry standards
• Prepare reports on projects including material and personnel costs
• Respond to emergencies and supervise work being performed during evenings, nights, and weekends
• Perform other related duties

Preferred Skills

• Ability to perform inspections in all weather conditions which will include nights and weekends
• A strong background in AutoCAD and MS Office suite are required
• Ability to drive city-owned vehicle
• Preference will be given to those with a motor vehicle driver’s license valid in the State of New York, which may be required for certain assignments

Minimum Qualifications

• A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State’s Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization, and five years of full-time satisfactory experience managing and/or inspecting one or more construction projects which must have a total cost of at least $300,000 for each of the five years of the required experience
• Or one year of the experience above and a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, architectural technology, landscape architecture, construction, construction technology, or construction management
• Or one year of the experience above and a valid license as a professional engineer, registered architect, or registered landscape architect
• Or a four-year high school diploma or its equivalent and a combination of at least two years of the required experience and the education above to equal five years of education and experience

Note: Candidates must specify for each construction project they worked on: a description of the construction project, the time period they worked on the construction project, and the type of work they performed. Candidates must also specify the money allotted for the project.

Driver License Requirement: At the time of appointment to this position, you must have a motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York. If you have moving violations, license suspension or an accident record, you may be disqualified. This license must be maintained for the duration of your employment.

Pay

$78,740.00 – $114,033.00
