Board Member
About the role
We seek serious board members who can help take OUR NATIONAL CONVERSATION (ONC) to the next level. ONC is a nonpartisan media outlet built and hosted by college students, aiming to reduce toxic partisanship in America and focus on common-sense public policy solutions. We are part journalism, part student-led public policy think tank, and part social movement.
Your contributions in fundraising, connections, and skills will help evolve ONC from an "interesting student project" to a "real media outlet with a real future." If we raise money, our intent is to start paying people, at least on a part-time basis, so this role could turn into something more.
We believe that with one big push, 2026 could be our breakout year. Everyone’s contribution matters in helping America’s future leaders prepare for the challenges ahead.
Responsibilities
- Assist in fundraising efforts to support ONC’s growth and sustainability.
- Leverage connections to expand ONC’s reach and impact.
- Provide skills and expertise to help transition ONC from a student project to a professional media outlet.
- Contribute to strategic planning and execution to achieve ONC’s mission of reducing partisanship and promoting solutions-focused dialogue.
About us
At ONC, our students write articles, host podcasts, sponsor events, and even published a book. We maintain a civil environment where Republicans, Democrats, and Independents are all welcome. Our focus is on answering, "What do we want to DO about this?" to rise above partisan blame and foster constructive conversations.
Over 900 interns from across the U.S. have participated in ONC, guided by experienced mentors. We aim to develop America’s future leaders by equipping them with the skills needed to tackle the challenges of tomorrow. Learn more at ournationalconversation.org.
