Piper Companies is seeking a BMS/FMS Engineering Support Specialist to support a leading engineering and manufacturing organization in Clayton, North Carolina. This role will focus on Building Management System (BMS) and Facility Management System (FMS) project execution, technical coordination, standards compliance, and vendor integration activities.
About the role
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional with experience in automation systems, facilities management, or building management systems who enjoys working in a cross-functional project environment and serving as a technical subject matter expert.
Responsibilities
- Partner with local and global project teams to ensure BMS/FMS designs comply with applicable standards and project requirements.
- Develop interface agreements and align technical requirements with equipment vendors and project stakeholders.
- Plan, schedule, and execute assigned activities in accordance with project timelines and milestones.
- Support project budget management through timely execution of assigned tasks and deliverables.
- Maintain and support BMS/FMS automation standards, specifications, and best practices.
- Complete assigned training and professional development activities within required timelines.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for BMS/FMS systems and provide training and guidance to relevant personnel.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional project resources to drive project execution and successful outcomes.
- Execute work with a quality-focused mindset that emphasizes risk management and mitigation.
- Follow and support established change management processes and procedures.
- Adhere to all safety, environmental, and compliance requirements while performing assigned duties.
- Perform additional responsibilities and accountabilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automation, Facilities Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline preferred.
- Experience supporting Building Management Systems (BMS), Facility Management Systems (FMS), automation systems, or related engineering disciplines.
- Knowledge of engineering project execution, system integration, and vendor coordination.
- Understanding of automation standards, specifications, and lifecycle management practices.
- Experience working within regulated, quality-driven, or highly controlled environments preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across local and global teams.
- Experience supporting risk management and change control processes.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
