Blood Collection Staff - Customer Service

About the Role
As part of our team, you will utilize healthcare and/or customer service skills to assist with every step of the blood collection process. Responsibilities include collaborating with your team to transport and set up equipment at collection sites, creating a welcoming environment for donors, and following safety procedures to collect lifesaving blood donations for hospitals.
Responsibilities
- Personally connect with donors, listen to their stories, and help them understand the impact of their donation.
- Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment for volunteer donors.
- Maintain detailed orientation to ensure collected blood meets goals, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
- Drive Red Cross vehicles and assist with setting up and tearing down equipment at donation sites.
- Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.
Schedule
This role follows a variable schedule, which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays to meet donor and community needs. Overnight travel may be required in some locations. Schedules are provided two to three weeks in advance.
Pay
Starting rate: $19.38/hour.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills.
- Current, valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Physical ability to lift, push, or pull heavy weights, navigate ramps and stairs, and sit or stand for long periods.
- Adaptability to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (e.g., CNA, MA, EMT).
- Prior leadership experience.
