About the Role

As part of our team, you will utilize your healthcare and/or customer service skills to support every step of the blood collection process. Responsibilities include collaborating with your team to transport and set up equipment at collection sites, creating a welcoming environment for donors, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. The Red Cross provides paid phlebotomy training, allowing you to develop your healthcare skills and advance your career within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Personally connect with donors, listen to their stories, and help them understand the impact of their donation.
  • Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment for volunteer donors.
  • Maintain detailed orientation to ensure collected blood meets goals, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
  • Drive Red Cross vehicles and assist with setting up and tearing down equipment at donation sites.
  • Work as part of a team to prepare and manage mobile blood drives at various locations, including businesses and schools.

Schedule

This role requires a variable schedule, which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Overnight travel may be required in some locations. Schedules are provided two to three weeks in advance.

Pay

Starting rate: $19.25/hour.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills.
  • Current, valid driver’s license with a good driving record (Class E required; Class F must be upgraded to Class E before starting).
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull heavy weights, navigate ramps and stairs, and maintain good manual dexterity.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods and adapt to irregular hours and frequent schedule changes.
  • Minimum height of 60 inches may be required to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (e.g., CNA, MA, EMT).
  • Leadership experience.
