Blood Collection Staff - Customer Service

About the Role

When you join our team, you will utilize your healthcare and/or customer service skills to assist with every step of the blood collection process. This includes collaborating with your team to transport and setup equipment at collection sites in local communities, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for volunteer donors, and following all safety procedures while collecting lifesaving blood donations delivered to hospitals. Responsibilities

• Personally connect with donors—listen to their stories and help them understand the impact of their donation.
• Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment for volunteer donors.
• Maintain detailed orientation to ensure collected blood meets goals, regulatory requirements, and safety standards for transfusion.
• Drive Red Cross vehicles and assist with setup and teardown of equipment at donation sites.
• Work a variable schedule that may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight travel.

Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills.
• Current, valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• DOT certification, including passing applicable DOT physical and related requirements, and ability to obtain a medical certification of at least one-year duration.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, and ability to sit or stand for long periods.
• Adaptability to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.).
• Prior leadership experience.

Pay

Starting rate: $20.00/hour. Pay may increase depending on experience.

Schedule

Variable schedule with rotating weekends. Schedule is provided two to three weeks in advance.
