Blood Collection Staff - Customer Service

About the Role
As part of our team, you will utilize your healthcare and/or customer service skills to assist with every step of the blood collection process. This includes collaborating with your team to transport and set up equipment at collection sites, creating a welcoming environment for donors, and following safety procedures to collect lifesaving blood donations for hospitals.
Responsibilities
- Personally connect with donors, listen to their stories, and help them understand the impact of their donation.
- Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment for volunteer donors.
- Maintain detailed orientation to ensure collected blood meets goals, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
- Drive Red Cross vehicles and assist with setting up and tearing down equipment at donation sites.
- Work a variable schedule that may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight travel.
Schedule is provided two to three weeks in advance. Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills.
- Current, valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, and the ability to sit or stand for long periods.
- Adaptability to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (e.g., CNA, MA, EMT).
- Prior leadership experience.
Pay
Starting rate: $19.38/hour.
