Job Responsibilities
- Supervise and perform custodial duties including maintenance of floor finishes, wall finishes, windows/doors, latrine spaces, and other custodial tasks.
- Serve as the purchase card holder for purchases supporting buildings and grounds maintenance.
- Supervise the maintenance and cleaning of building spaces such as restrooms and showers.
- Perform tasks such as sweeping, mopping, cleaning mirrors, toilets, urinals, showers, walls, and other surfaces.
- Replenish supplies like paper towels, toilet tissue, hand soap, and other necessary items.
- Empty trash as required.
- Manage floor maintenance by stripping, sealing, waxing, and polishing.
- Vacuum and clean carpeted areas, sweep, and mop floors.
- Schedule floor maintenance based on tenant and customer needs.
- Coordinate contracted work for building cleanliness and maintenance of finishes.
- Develop scope of work, request for proposals, and specifications.
- Review contractor bids and submittals, award contracts, schedule contractor work, and conduct inspections.
- Confirm contractor payments and conduct final inspections of contracted work.
- Manage time and attendance for assigned custodial employees.
- Manage state employee travel for official business.
- Complete SHRO required paperwork, including evaluations, counseling forms, and disciplinary actions.
- Maintain custodial supplies and equipment.
- Contact vendors and contractors for quotes on materials and equipment.
- Prepare purchase requests and coordinate the ordering, purchase, shipment, receipt, and payment for goods.
- Coordinate with the Training Center Warehouse Manager for the purchase of new equipment, the turn-in of old equipment, and scheduled inventories.
Requirements
- A high school diploma and relevant custodial, groundskeeping, or maintenance experience.
- Knowledge of proper custodial, groundskeeping, or maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge of standards and requirements for these tasks.
- Knowledge of safety practices applicable to the area of employment.
- Knowledge of personnel, procurement, and budgeting practices in state government.
- Knowledge of on-the-job training concepts and techniques.
- Ability to keep accurate written records.
- Ability to prioritize and manage resources effectively.
- Ability to lead and supervise a team.
Additional Requirements
- A valid SC Driver's license and completion of the agency's driver's safety course.
- The ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, and stand for long periods.
- The ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
Minimum Requirements
- A high school diploma.
