Blades Aircraft Technician B

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Blades Senior Aircraft Technician to join the Blades Repair team in Grand Prairie, TX. This role involves performing various functions on rotor blades, including receiving, moving, inspection, tear down, repair, balancing, and return to service in accordance with Airbus Helicopters, Inc. documentation and procedures.

Working environment

Located in a suburb just outside the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, Airbus Helicopters U.S. regional headquarters employs over 1,000 people. The Dallas area is home to seven professional sports teams, including the Dallas Cowboys, who have a custom Airbus helicopter that may be seen flying during home games.

Responsibilities

• Technical (80%):
  • Receive, move, clean, inspect, repair, assemble, and close out rotor blades.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with assigned lead regarding schedules, priorities, and availability of parts, supplies, and tools.
  • Develop a clear understanding of methods and procedures for rotor blade repairs.
  • Effectively utilize all hand tools needed for inspection and repairs.
  • Develop skills in cleaning, sanding, bodywork/filling, and painting rotor blades and related components.
  • Develop skills to assemble finished products.
  • Complete required documentation for rotor blade inspection and repairs.
  • Ensure work complies with customer specifications, FAA regulations, manufacturer’s maintenance manuals, blueprints, and RDAS.

Additional Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned, including overtime as needed.

Requirements

• Education:
  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Trade school.
• Experience:
  • Required: Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in automotive (paint & body), aerospace, composite, woodworking, or other related skill/trade. Trade school attendance/certification may substitute for experience.
  • Preferred: Five (5) years of automotive, aerospace, composite, woodworking, or related skill/trade. SAP background.
• Licensure/Certifications:
  • Preferred: ASE, FAA Airframe Certificate, or other trade-related certifications.
• Travel: Less than 10% domestic and international.
• Citizenship: Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Physical Requirements

• Onsite or remote: 90% onsite.
• Vision: Able to see and read computer screens, documents, reports, and engineering drawings daily.
• Hearing: Able to participate in conversations and hear safety warnings daily.
• Speaking: Able to participate in conversations and meetings daily.
• Equipment Operation: Able to operate office equipment and some production tools, including hydraulic lifts, daily.
• Carrying: Able to carry documents, tools, and equipment up to 50 lbs/23 kg daily.
• Lifting: Able to lift documents, tools, and equipment up to 50 lbs/23 kg daily.
• Pushing/Pulling: Able to push and pull small office furniture and tools daily.
• Sitting: Able to sit for long periods during meetings or computer work daily.
• Squatting/Kneeling: Able to squat or kneel to retrieve items from low shelving.
• Standing: Able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor daily.
• Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces, daily.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Required PPE includes safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, and/or protective gloves as required by site or customer. Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits.
