About the role:

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist to work in our Pathology Laboratory within the CHG Ridgeway Hospital. The hospital is in rural Wiltshire, and offers mainly elective surgery and outpatient clinics. There is no AE, ITU or Maternity unit on site. The role is a multi-disciplinary role that includes Biochemistry, Haematology and Blood Transfusion. This role is full time hours working as part of a small team and is an excellent opportunity to further develop your skills, knowledge and experience within a multidisciplinary laboratory.

  • Duties will include the performance of the routine diagnostic analytical work in Biochemistry, Haematology and Blood Transfusion as directed, technical validation and clinical authorisation of results, stock control and ordering of supplies, amongst other duties.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will be expected to maintain the highest professional and technical standards in the department, ensuring they meet all standards as required by accreditation bodies and adhere to quality assurance procedures.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a busy blood sciences laboratory including Biochemistry, Haematology, Coagulation and Blood Transfusion. However, some training may be offered to the right candidate if not experienced in all disciplines.

Benefits:

  • Routine shifts cover between 08:30 and 19:00 Monday to Friday and an on-call rolling rota is in place to cover out of hours and weekends on site.
  • Participation in this rota will be expected after a period of training and assessment of competency.
  • There are additional sessional payments in place for this.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must hold an HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist qualification.

Skills:

  • Experience of working in a busy blood sciences laboratory including Biochemistry, Haematology, Coagulation and Blood Transfusion.
  • Technical validation and clinical authorisation of results.
  • Stock control and ordering of supplies.

Pay:

Up to £43,700 DOE per annum

Schedule:

Permanent - Full Time (37.5 hours)
