About the role

The Biomedical Electronics Technician 1 position at UW Medical Center Montlake – Clinical Engineering offers an opportunity to assist senior technicians in the installation and maintenance of medical equipment. This role requires on-the-job training and supports a variety of biomedical instruments, apparatus, systems, and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior technicians with inspecting and installing medical and related technical equipment in medical and research facilities.
  • Learn to properly service multiple specific types of equipment such as patient monitors, electrocardiographs, blood gas analyzers, x-ray units, defibrillators, electrosurgical units, anesthesia apparatus, pacemakers, blood pressure transducers, spirometers, sterilizers, diathermy equipment, and other related technical equipment.
  • Learn to repair, calibrate, and maintain specific types of medical equipment and how to properly maintain required documentation.
  • Learn to effectively communicate with customers keeping them fully informed of the status of repairs.
  • Learn to properly safety test medical equipment to ensure patient and staff safety with regard to electrical or mechanical hazards.
  • Consult with medical or research staff to ascertain that the equipment functions properly and safely.

Requirements

  • An Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Biomedical Equipment Technology or related field.
  • A valid drivers license required to travel between sites.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Skills

  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair medical equipment.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Safety awareness and ability to test equipment for hazards.

Pay

Pay range: $34.84 - $49.88 hourly
