Responsibilities
- Execute routine preventative maintenance and safety inspections on a variety of medical devices, including but not limited to patient monitors, infusion pumps, and basic diagnostic equipment, following established protocols.
- Evaluate basic customer biomedical equipment issues, implement appropriate repairs, and as assigned, perform PM and safety/environmental inspections.
- May assist more experienced technicians on basic and more complex repairs/resolution.
- Document all maintenance, repair, and calibration activities accurately and promptly in the designated asset management system.
- Calibrate equipment to manufacturer specifications and regulatory standards.
- Respond to and resolve basic equipment malfunctions reported by clinical staff.
- Maintain daily communications with customers as directed, to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, leading to strong customer relations and ongoing customer satisfaction.
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff regarding equipment status and repair timelines.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance technical skills and knowledge of new medical technologies.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards, including those related to infection control and hazardous materials.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace and ensure proper care of tools and test equipment.
Requirements
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, or a related technical field; OR equivalent military education; OR a participant in the formal GE HealthCare Biomedical or Field Engineer Services Internship, Apprenticeship or Military Externship program; OR High School Diploma/GED and a minimum 2 years of experience servicing electrical, electronics, IT or mechanical equipment.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Proficiency with basic hand tools and test equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to be available after-hours and/or work a rotating on-call schedule, including weekends.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a healthcare or technical service environment is a plus but not required.
- Basic understanding of electronics, mechanical systems, and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, Joint Commission) related to medical devices is desirable.
- Previous team lead or leadership experience is a plus but not required.
