About the Role

Responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance, calibration and modification of a wide range of medical instrumentation, including life support equipment at Holy Name, New Jersey's only independent Catholic health system. Our 361-bed acute care hospital, renowned cancer center, state-of-the-art fitness center, residential hospice, prestigious nursing school, and extensive physician network are dedicated to providing care for the body, mind, and soul through education, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and overall wellness.

Responsibilities

  • Perform acceptance checks on all medical equipment entering the hospital using standard written procedures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all medical equipment within the hospital using standard procedures.
  • In the absence of written procedures, logically determine necessary operational and electronic tests to ensure operator and patient safety.
  • Troubleshoot a wide range of complex medical equipment and repair down to component level.
  • Diagnose equipment problems on the units using prior experience and knowledge of equipment operation.
  • Provide formal and informal educational information to physicians, nurses, and ancillary personnel, as needed.
  • Operate a wide array of simple and complex test instrumentation to obtain meaningful data.
  • Maintain legible and complete records of all work assignments.
  • Demonstrate ability to accurately locate parts and circuit boards and obtain parts ordering information.
  • Read and interpret instructional and service manuals and schematics related to equipment.
  • Keep abreast of technological advances and assist in upgrading procedures and methods, where indicated.
  • Assume responsibility for ongoing education based on individual identified needs.
  • Demonstrate the ability to recognize, establish, and deal with priorities promptly.
  • Inform supervisor of problems encountered with repairs or calibrations.
  • Strive to meet deadlines in completing special projects, as assigned.
  • Maintain the department in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.
  • Observe hospital policies concerning smoking restrictions, telephone usage, infection control, hazardous material handling, and other related rules governing conduct while at work.
  • Appear well-groomed and observe hospital dress code; wear identification badge while on duty and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Perform other related duties, as requested.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Biomedical or Electronic Technology or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of one year experience in electronic repair.
  • Experience in biomedical equipment repair is desirable.
