About the role
Stantec's Mountain Region is currently seeking a Biologist for our Environmental Services Group based out of either Elko, Reno, or Las Vegas Nevada, or Salt Lake City, Utah (Elko preferred).
Responsibilities
- Largely field-based with ~80% of the time spent in the field during the field season.
- Responsible for field surveys and data collection related to natural resources (e.g., wildlife, springs, vegetation).
- Work in a team environment and perform both individual, paired, and team field assignments.
- Interact and communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams, including project/task managers and field team leads.
Requirements
- Experience identifying common wildlife and plant species in the Great Basin/Mountain West (Nevada, Utah).
- Experience working safely in remote areas throughout Nevada and Utah.
- Experience with ESRI Field Maps and various wildlife and botany data collection protocols is a plus.
- Make sound decisions and apply a high degree of integrity to data collection.
- Manage risks and conduct work safely and in an organized manner.
- Eager to learn and be part of a local team of resource specialists supporting clients in renewables, transmission, mining, and other industries.
- Good driving record and valid driver’s license required.
Credentials
- Bachelor of Science Degree with 1-5 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications
- Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science Degree with 1-5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience: Past experience with field team leadership and/or task management as a biologist in consulting will factor into compensation and responsibilities/opportunities (candidate dependent).
- Field Work: Experience in the field of natural resources consulting is preferred but not required.
